Every wonder what it would be like to own your submarine, not just any submarine, but a luxury submarine? Well now you can. U-Boat Worx, a luxury submarine manufacturer based in The Netherlands has introduced its latest line of exploration submersibles. The new catamaran style submersibles, to be on display at the Monaco Yacht Show 2010 in September, will show off not only its latest luxury submarine, but also every bit of modern technology and comforts that come with it. All ready and complete, this clear bubble topped vehicle, complete with stereo, will be ready when you are to dive to depths of 1,000 meters.
Officially called the C-Explorer, U-Boat Worx sees these diving machines as not only a must for scientists, research organizations, and sea explorers, but also for super yacht owners and for the emerging aquatic tourism market. Capable of fitting up to six passengers and priced starting from about 280,000 Euro, the submarines are not only in the price range of consumers, but easily affordable for those that want, or already have, an aquatic tourism business. According to Bert Houtman, founder of U-Boat Worx, “Our company has demonstrated that we are able to deliver certified subs at a more reasonable price than anyone else in the market, even when applying the latest technologies such as lithium-ion batteries. With the C-Explorers we are now looking into capitalizing on this concept by expanding our product line to be capable of diving to greater depths and also cater to a wider, more diverse group of end-users.”
Along with these submarines come all the accessories an underwater explorer or an underwater sea world operator would ever want. And one of the first items on that list is underwater lights. Not only do the lights bring a sensation of security to the passengers, but they also will enrich your underwater exploration experience, especially when they provide complete 360-degree lighting.
Such lights will surely make you an underwater sea attraction as well as give you the light you need to find underwater treasures or collect important seabed samples. For that task you can equip your submarine with manipulator jaws. The jaws from U-Boat come complete with a cutting device, which not only makes sample collection a snap but also gives you the protection you need when dealing with those unexpected underwater adventures.
Other standard equipment and options that come with U-Boat submarines include a topside tracking system, providing you with the underwater GPS information you need; a digital video camera system with controllable pan and tilt, and imaging sonar at every resolution level you’ll need.
Letting you know exactly where you are and avoiding the perils of underwater current, a Doppler velocity log inertial navigation system is also available. For underwater communications you can also add a subsea modem based on the latest spread spectrum technology.
If underwater exploration is just not enough for you, you can explore what’s underneath the seabed simply by equipping your sub with subbottom profilers. The same type used to find underwater gas and oil deposits.
Finally, if you want to add a little bit of luxury and comfort, consider equipping your submarine with an iPod stereo system, a place to keep your drinks cool and stylish leather seats. Because U-Worx builds both standard and custom submarines inside and out, your wish is their command.
